The Orchard

There's always one last good day before it's really over.

The orchard is mostly picked over but the smell is still there — ripe apple and spiced plum coming up off the ground, autumn citrus cutting through the cool air, dried currants on the branch that nobody got to in time. You walk the rows slower than you need to. Nobody's in a hurry to leave.

The top opens exactly like that afternoon — ripe apple and spiced plum side by side, with just enough citrus to keep it from going heavy. Cinnamon bark and golden woods come through in the middle, warm and unhurried, grounded by dried currants that add a depth you wouldn't expect but couldn't do without. Then honeyed amber, toasted oak, and warm musk settle into the base and stay there — the smell of the season giving you everything it has left before it goes.
